Sh. P.D. Kumar
Founder Chairman
|
Bhavan’s Amritsar Kendra
was started in 1987. Late Sh. P.D. Kumar, a saintly
and divine soul, donated his property worth lakhs of
rupees to Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and was instrumental
in the establishment of Amritsar Kendra. He very reluctantly
consented to be the first chairman of Amritsar Kendra.
Emulating the Gandhian ideology, he led his life based
on the principle “Simple Living and High Thinking”.
The Kendra is working on the road-map drawn by late
Sh. P.D.Kumar and is committed to fulfill his vision.
The Kendra is expanding and diversifying its activities
under the inspiring guidance of its present chairman
Sh. Avinash Mohindru. Under his dynamic leadership,
the Kendra has already initiated a large number of programmes
and activities such as organization of value-based lectures
and talks, organization of Yoga camps, establishment
of Sh. P.D. Memorial “Gyan Deep School”, and Gandhi Institute
of Computer Education.

Dr. Manmohan
Singh
Prime Minister,
India
|
Our Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan
Singh has recognized the services and role of
Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and its Kendras in the following
words:
The Bhavan is a unique institution because its feet
are firmly placed on the solid foundation of our rich
heritage and culture, while its head has soared into
the skies to embrace all that is new and modern. The
Bhavan has spread its wings and flown into new areas
of education. It is valued institution across the country.
It is, therefore, only natural that the Bhavan has branched
off into the teaching of information technology.
I compliment you on your unceasing and untiring efforts
to remain relevant to the needs of our society. I salute
the patriotism and the humanism of all those who have
helped build the Bhavan and continue to help in its
manifold activities. I wish you well in your noble endeavours.
I assure you that I will always be here to support and
encourage the good work of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.
